Legal Assistance

MLP | Boston understands that when legal staff are available in the clinical setting to advocate on behalf of low-income patients, those patients are more likely to access critical services, particularly at a time when legal and health emergencies can still be averted.

With the support of a network of pro bono partners and legal aid agency peers, MLP | Boston’s team of lawyers and paralegals provides direct legal assistance to eligible patients treated at participating health care institutions. We address a range of legal issues, reflected in the acronym I-HELPSM, that support the satisfaction of patients’ basic needs:

  • Income Supports
  • Housing and Utilities
  • Education and Employment
  • Legal (Immigration) Status
  • Personal and Family Stability and Safety

MLP | Boston has further established uniquely preventive legal priorities within each practice area. Please see our Resources for Legal Partners for relevant guides and toolkits.
