Dorchester House Multi-Service Center Honors MLP | Boston with its “Unsung Hero” Award

June 15, 2009
This past Thursday, Dorchester House Multi-Service Center, one of MLP | Boston’s six affiliated community health centers, hosted its Governing Board Annual Meeting and Staff Awards Dinner. During the event, MLP | Boston and its Executive Director, Samantha Morton, were presented with the “Unsung Hero Award.” Dr. Barry Zuckerman, Boston Medical Center’s Chief of Pediatrics and MLP | Boston’s Founder, presented Samantha with the award.

Dot House chose to honor MLP | Boston in part because of the longtime partnership between the two organizations; MLP | Boston has been providing legal advice and counsel to Dot House patients and training to its medical providers for many years. In addition to this successful collaboration, MLP | Boston recently facilitated the “adoption” of Dorchester House by Ropes & Gray LLP, a Boston law firm and MLP | Boston pro bono partner. As a result, attorneys from Ropes & Gray now staff the legal clinic at Dot House (with MLP | Boston’s guidance) and represent all cases that come to intake at the health center. With Ropes & Gray enthusiastically supporting Dot House in this way and others, this award helped acknowledge MLP | Boston’s role in making this adoption happen.

For its part, MLP | Boston is incredibly grateful for the recognition of Dorchester House and is looking forward to a future of many more vulnerable patients receiving the help they need at Dot House.
