Attorney General Enforces Housing Laws Considered Essential for Healthy Child Development by MLP | Boston

August 10, 2010

Massachusetts’ Attorney General Martha Coakley announced today that her office has obtained a consent judgment and filed lawsuits against multiple real estate companies for alleged violations of anti-discrimination, lead paint, and consumer protection laws. These actions are part of a statewide investigation into discrimination against families with young children whose presence would require property owners to eliminate lead hazards.

In the press release issued by the Office of the Attorney General, MLP | Boston’s Executive Director Samantha Morton explains that such efforts to both eliminate lead hazards and ensure equal housing opportunities help to promote the availability of safe housing that “is essential for healthy child development."
