MLP | Boston launches!

January 30, 2009
The Medical-Legal Partnership | Boston (MLP | Boston) announced its launch today as a continued provider of legal services for patients at Boston Medical Center and its six affiliated health centers.  Formerly called the Medical-Legal Partnership for Children, MLP | Boston's name change came in recognition of both its expanding client population as well as its relationship to the newly re-named National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership (NCMLP).

While MLP | Boston strives to sustain its many strengths (medical provider training, case consults and representation from responsive and knowledgeable legal staff), this launch also marks several new elements of MLP | Boston's program.

Just now, our legal team is in its first attempts to work with providers and clients outside of Pediatrics.  This expansion of client population will progress slowly, but should ultimately lead to partnerships with Geriatrics, Cancer Care and Infectious Disease providers and patients.

Additionally, MLP | Boston aims to play an active role in the furtherance of the medical-legal partnership model nationwide by participating in MLP Network activities facilitated by NCMLP.  As the Founding Site of the network, MLP | Boston hopes to provide best practices support to other MLP sites across the continent, while also learning from MLPs who have experience in some of MLP | Boston's newest areas of focus.

MLP | Boston is enthusiastic to continue its success and growth while continuing to provide first-class legal services to its constituents, the low-income residents of Boston.
